Poor or malfunctioning braking system?

RELEASE DATE:2023.07.31

1. The brake pipe (such as the joint) leaks or is blocked, the brake fluid is insufficient, and the brake oil pressure drops and malfunctions. Regular maintenance and inspection of brake pipelines should be carried out to eliminate leaks, add brake fluid, and unblock pipelines.

2. If the brake master cylinder, wheel cylinder cup (or other parts) are damaged, the brake pipeline cannot cause the required internal pressure, oil leakage, and poor braking. Immediately disassemble and inspect the brake master cylinder and cylinder cups, and replace worn and damaged components.

3. Improper braking spacing. The distance between the working surface of the brake friction pad and the working surface of the inner wall of the brake drum is too large, and the stroke of the pump piston is too large during braking, resulting in slow braking and a decrease in braking torque. During maintenance, adjust the brake spacing according to the specifications, that is, use a flat head screwdriver to pull the ratchet wheel from the high-speed hole, open the brake shoe, clear the spacing, and then retract the ratchet wheel by 3-6 teeth to obtain the specified spacing.

4. Air entering the brake pipe slows down the braking process, heats up the brake pipe, and reduces the residual pressure inside the pipe, causing the brake fluid to vaporize and bubbles to appear in the pipe. Because gas can be compressed, it causes a decrease in braking torque during braking. During maintenance, the air in the brake wheel cylinder and pipes can be drained and sufficient brake fluid can be added.

5. Poor contact between the brake drum and the friction lining, deformation of the brake shoe, or the roundness of the brake drum exceeding 0.5mm, resulting in poor contact between the friction lining and the brake drum, and a decrease in brake friction torque. If this phenomenon is detected, it must be bored or adjusted for repair. The diameter of the brake drum after boring should not exceed 220mm, otherwise it should be replaced with a new part.

6. The brake friction pads are contaminated with oil stains or soaked in water, causing a significant decrease in friction coefficient and causing brake failure. During maintenance, remove the friction plate and clean it with gasoline, and heat the spray lamp to bake it, so that the oil seeping into the plate can seep out. If oil seeps, it is necessary to replace the new plate. For submerged friction pads, continuous braking can be used to cause heat energy to evaporate water, and the friction coefficient can be repaired.
